Secure Futures specialises in the development of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) strategies worldwide. Specifically:

Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

Secure Futures work with local communities, NGOs, government and academia worldwide to develop appropriate risk reduction strategies given an ever riskier world. Specific areas of work include:

  • The development of risk reduction proposals covering the broad range of sectoral specific actions.
  • Advice and support regarding the implementation of existing and ongoing disaster risk reduction projects and programmes.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of risk reduction initiatives undertaken at the community and government level.
  • The development and delivery of context specific, tailored educational programs and workshops.
  • Capacity building and institutional strengthening for organisations and governments worldwide.
  • Access to a wide range of support including practitioners, social and physical scientists.

 

Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)

Similarly to DRR initiatives, Secure Futures works with the CCA community worldwide to:

  • Identify appropriate, innovative and context specific strategies to address climate risk in a world of uncertainty.
  • Embed CCA strategies within wider risk reduction approaches which address underlying risk factors.
  • Utilise local and scientific expertise to reach agreed upon and acceptable solutions to local communities.
  • Research and education on existing and potential impacts of climate change upon different sectors.
  • Specific expertise on Small Island Developing States and their vulnerabilities.
  • Access to a wide range of support including practitioners, social and physical scientists.
